March 25th Changing Attitude Ireland Annual General Meeting, with Jayne Ozanne

Our first AGM since 2019 will take place on Saturday 25 March 2023 at Molesworth Hall, St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, from 2pm until 4:30pm. We do hope that you will be able to attend.

Jayne Ozanne

At this meeting, our guest speaker will be Jayne Ozanne. Jayne is a well-known speaker and broadcaster and is frequently approached by the UK national media for comment on sexuality and gender related issues. More recently, she has been invited to speak at religious LGBTI gatherings overseas and is keen to work with LGBTI representatives from other faith groups who are facing similar discrimination and prejudice within their religions.

In November 2019 she had the honour of meeting His Holiness, Pope Francis, and presented him with a copy of her memoir, Just Love, and her Foundation’s research on the harm of so-called “conversion therapy”. Whilst Jayne had hoped to attend in person, her busy schedule will only allow for her to join by Zoom. You will of course have an opportunity to hear Jayne speak and ask questions at the meeting.

We hope that many of our members will attend, to get an update on the work of Changing Attitude Ireland, especially given the recent changes in our sister churches in Scotland, Wales and England. This year, on foot of the (welcome) decision by the Church of England to introduce the blessing of same-sex civil marriages within a church setting, we are interested in focusing on the possible consequences of this development for the Church of Ireland and the all-island, Irish context on the blessing of same-sex marriages within the Church of Ireland. Jayne played a pivotal role in getting this motion passed at the Church of England General Synod. Her insights and experience will be valuable to us as we move forward.

Guests may attend the AGM but only current members are entitled to vote. There will be an opportunity during refreshments to sign up for membership of Changing Attitude Ireland and for members to renew their membership for 2023.
